College Organization Must-Haves

It’s no secret that college dorm rooms, apartments, and rental houses are often cramped for storage space! It’s also no secret that many college-aged kids don’t have a particular knack for keeping their spaces tidy, especially when they’re on their own for the first time. Now that we’re all agreed on those two truths, we can talk solutions! At Lambert Home, we are here to help - we’ve put together a list of college organization must-haves that will help your young adult stay tidy, without the eye-sore of traditional organization supplies. Don’t worry, all items shown (plus more) are in our Amazon Storefront!

Bedroom & Closet Organization

Let’s start in the bedroom, since no matter the age/grade/school, your young adult is going to need bedroom and closet organization tools! Off the bat, we want to recommend you get some practical under-bed storage solutions. Unless your kids are capsule wardrobe masters, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to fit all of their clothes on one dorm closet rod. If they can put their off-season clothes in storage under their bed, it’ll save the hassle of moving those clothes back-and-forth with each season change. If they’re going to school in Texas, they will be thankful to have those warm-weather items when we get an unseasonably warm day in February! And of course, we’ve also included some space-saving hangers for the future Amazon influencers!

There are two technology pieces we highly recommend: the Courant charging tray and the Hatch alarm clock. The Courant charging tray can charge any device with wireless charging capabilities! It also has a designated spot for some of those catch-all items that usually create clutter on a night-stand. The Hatch alarm clock is a sunrise alarm clock that will help your kid get to that pesky 8 AM class they didn’t realize would be hard to wake up for! This product is great because it simulates a gradual sunrise with noise to make the wake-up routine feel natural and easy. Several of us at Lambert Home use and love these as adults!

Don’t forget - we have linked all items you see in the picture, plus more, in our Amazon Storefront!

Bathroom Organization

Bathroom organization needs will likely depend on your kid’s living situation. If your kid is sharing a community bathroom, they will obviously not need their own toilet bowl cleaning brush. But they will still need a toothbrush holder, so we have one linked on Amazon for them! They will also need a shower caddy to tote their products to-and-from the showers every day (we can only hope!).

If your student is lucky enough to have a sink and cabinet space of their own, they’re definitely going to need some drawer storage and towel hooks. If they’re sharing this space with roommates, these items will really help keep everybody’s products organized and their countertop decluttered!

Kitchen Organization

Regardless of whether your kid has a kitchen of their own or not, they will likely need some basic kitchen items! We’re talking a small refrigerator, some tupperware and food storage, basic plastic glasses, etc. You don’t want your young adult to eat out for every meal, that is not the fuel their body needs to do well in school! And who knows what their cafeteria is serving up? If they have the basic kitchen supplies, they can at least get some fruits, veggies, and some other snacks to keep in their room, without creating chaos! Obviously, the more advanced their living situation, the more they may be able to add, like this cool Our Place toaster oven/air-fryer combination, or even a coffee machine.

Did you get the memo? We’ve got it all linked in our Amazon Storefront, plus a few goodies not pictured!

At Lambert Home, we are going through all the phases of life with your family. Design isn’t something that starts and ends when you’re established and are ready for your own home. It’s something we can use to make life more practical, functional, and beautiful as we go! We love getting to help you get your kids ready for adulthood with these organizational tools that can also make the space look nice!
