4 Reasons You Should Love Your Home
Have you ever caught yourself wondering why all this design stuff even matters? So what, you don’t like your home, what’s the big deal? You’re too busy and stressed to worry about having the perfect space, or a space that you love. Maybe you’re in a rental home, or an apartment, and you don’t want to invest in a temporary space. We’ve heard so many clients tell us that they put off their construction and design projects until they had more time and energy to think about it, until they were retired. And while that’s absolutely great for some, it also means you’re spending less time loving your space!
At Lambert Home, we have three core words at the heart of every project: timeless, clean, and beautiful. We believe that these elements can be incorporated into every space, at every budget, in every life stage! You don’t have to break the bank to love your space! Keep reading to understand our 4 reasons you should love your home.
1. Your Home is Your Place to Relax
You work hard enough! You shouldn’t come home to a cluttered, drab space at the end of the day. And if you work from home, or spend your days with your kids, you ESPECIALLY need to be in a space that you love! One of the easiest ways to do this is to design your space in a way that serves your lifestyle.
You can truly do this in all life stages, and it will make a huge difference. For example, if your family loves to play tennis together, you need a spot where everyone can drop their tennis gear when you get back home, that won’t suddenly create a cluttered, ugly space right at your entryway. Your budget will determine the best way to handle this issue, but don’t let it go unsolved! If you have a garage with a little room for storage, put a bin by the door for tennis rackets, and another for tennis balls. If you have a spot for a mud room, let’s get it built with some cabinets or hidden bench storage so those sports items can easily be stored out of sight, and out of mind!
2. Your Home is Your Investment
This one is fairly obvious! Whether you own, or you’re renting, you’re spending money to live in this space. It simply doesn’t make sense to spend your hard earned and saved money on a space you hate! You’re there every day! Let’s grab some art pieces that bring you joy, and add in some throw pillows that make you smile. These don’t have to be expensive changes, but they do have to happen in order to love the space you’re paying to be in. As your budget and life stages change, you can play with more in-depth updates, and we’ll be here to help you then, too! We love when you love your home!
3. It’s a Place You Share with Your Loved Ones
Single people - stay with us! This applies to you, too. When you invite your friends and family into your home, you want to convey a sense of belonging, safety, and care. The same goes for our couples and our families - good design will instill these qualities into a space! No matter your design style, you can definitely convey a warm, welcoming environment through your design.
How do you enjoy spending time with your people? Once you’ve identified this, you can determine what area to focus on. Do you enjoy a drink and charcuterie night with the girls? Set up a cute little bar cart moment! Does your family enjoy playing games together? Make sure to have your games accessible and a table sufficient for playing!
4. It’s an Opportunity to Express Yourself
You’re never too young or too old to be in a space that expresses you authentically! Even college boys put SOME time into decorating their dorms to represent their interests. (I mean, yes, it is going to be a flag above the bed and, no, it won’t look good. But at least the intention is there!?) So first, think through your interests, and let’s think through how we can incorporate those into your design! One of our clients collects baseball player bobble-heads, so we displayed them in his office on his built-in bookshelf we designed. He was so pleased to have little elements he loved in the background of all his work calls!
So why do it?? Because you want to! Spend some time thinking through what your space NEEDS and what, specifically, is missing. If you don’t have the budget for a full renovation right now, consider some budget-friendly tweaks that will make the space feel more like yours while you save for that full reno later!
